Bike Trains

LA is not exactly known for being the most "bike friendly" city but I recently heard about an awesome new trend known as "bike trains". The basic idea is to use safety in numbers to make a safer ride and increase bicycle awareness. I really hope more cities adopt this great idea. Everyone should check out the site and donate if they can!  http://labiketrains.com/

Shogun Groundbreaker touring bike.

Here is my custom built shogun groundbreaker touring bike. I found the frame in the attic of the bike shop I was working at it. It had never been built up and still had the original paper wrapping on it.

Going For a "Klunk"

In the cycling world the term "Klunker" is used fairly loosely. It basically refers to a bike (generally a single speed) that was built or modified to go off road. But does not necessarily have modern, or what would now be considered to be high performance components. The term was coined in the 70's when mountain biking was still in its infancy. The bikes being used were mostly modified beach cruisers with balloon tires and drum brakes.
This is my single speed Carver mountain bike. Or at least its the closest thing to a "mountain bike" I own...

Soma Sparrow Bars

In an attempted to shave some weight off of my Raleigh, I recently replace the steel handle bars, stem and seat post with aluminium. This has actually made a huge difference. The stem and seat post were just parts that I found around the bike shop. But for the bars, I went with the Sparrow, by Soma. These bars are ment to be either upright, or dropped down. I went with dropped down, as I feel it makes me look cooler and I feel like I am riding really fast even when I am not.

Frederic Remington

Here is a really amazing painting that a reader sent into bikesnobnyc. It was painted in 1896, by Frederic Remington, and is titled "The Right of the Road".

Lumberjack Bike

I stumbled across this photo while surfing the interweb. The chainsaw is connected to the front wheel, but it also has a motor. So I'm not sure if the bike powers the saw, or the saw powers the bike. Either way, don't mess with this dude...

Bicycle Race

Here is an old video of a bike race my friend Jesse Pilgrim set up way back in the year 2007. The video has been on youtube for years, but I havent really wanted to share it. For one, due to a poor route choice I ended up coming in dead last. Also, the bike I am riding is my old Raleigh single speed that was stolen while I was living in New York and I miss it... But Anyway, Here it is. Enjoy!

It Will be Mine...

Seeing this Bianchi Pista Classica frame makes me feel like Wayne Campbell looking at that white stratocaster...
